This week we celebrate the environment, World Environment Day on 5 June. According to scientists, we’re the generation that can recreate a balanced relationship between people and the ecosystem that depend on them. Check out #GenerationRestoration for more information.
The reality is that we all can make a difference through recycling – it takes a little effort but makes a big difference to the world. Over the last three years, we have increased our recycling efforts at our properties.
Last year alone, we have recycled almost 824 tonnes of waste. You might not even be aware that the waste from your building, including our branches and head office are collected, sorted and recycled.
At Killarney Mall we’re recycling food waste and turning it into compost, showing that if we apply our minds and get our hands dirty we can achieve great things.
If you want to help us with our recycling efforts, we would appreciate it if you can:
- Rinse plastic containers (cold drink and milk bottles)
- Place the rinsed plastic containers in a separate bag
- Please separate plastics, paper and cans
- If you have any electronic waste such as old electronic equipment and light bulbs, please chat to your building manager to dispose of correctly.
We’ll leave you with this thought: “There is no such thing as ‘away’. When we throw anything away, it must go somewhere.”
