Engineering, Credit Risk, KSR and Strategic Operations with the assistance of Eric our faithful driver, generous contributions, eager hands and good spirits we took on the journey to Kensington, Johannesburg where we visited the ROKPA charity. As an international charity, ROKPA is unique, their primary goal is to help the very poorest of the poor and to work in areas where other charitable organisations have found it difficult to initiate and sustain humanitarian work.
Situated at the top of the mountain with a beautiful view over the Jozi skyline, ROKPA house offers a safe sanctuary for those in need. In addition the organisation runs a soup kitchen that provides a hot, nutritious meal to at least 60 homeless people every Tuesday evening. As a team we were able to donate 60 blankets to keep the homeless warm, 5 black bags of old clothes and 4 boxes of non-perishable ingredients for the soup kitchen. The morning consisted of the team preparing vegetables, cooking a HUGE pot of soup and buttering 20 loaves of bread for the evening’s distribution in Albertina Sisulu street!
